The aim of the Symposium is to provide professionals from the mining industry, academic scholars and researchers as well as people from research institutions and government agencies an opportunity to present their work and to share and discuss the latest developments on continuous surface mining.
The Symposium is organized by the Public Power Corporation (PPC) of Greece/ Mines Business Unit, the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) / School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering and the Technical University of Crete (TUC) / School of Mineral Resources Engineering.
The main topics of the Symposium include mine planning and design, modeling, simulation and stochastic optimization, risk assessment, slope stability – soil and rock mechanics, hydrogeological investigations, environment protection – land reclamation, sustainability, circular economy and related subjects.
Peer-review accepted full papers will be included in the symposium proceedings provided in memory stick to the participants.
Papers selected by the organizing committee will be published in a special issue of the international journal of mining and mineral engineering. These papers would have to be extended and reworked and will go through the typical peer-review process.
* Πρόκειται για σημαντικό διεθνές συνέδριο, υψηλού επιπέδου, το οποίο διεξάγεται ανά δυο έτη. To 14ο Διεθνές Μεταλλευτικό Συνέδριο αφορά επιφανειακές εκμεταλλεύσεις συνεχούς λειτουργίας οι οποίες εφαρμόζονται σε μεγάλη έκταση σε λιγνιτωρυχεία. Το συνέδριο θα πραγματοποιηθεί στη Θεσσαλονίκη, με ελληνική κύρια οργανωτική Ομάδα. Η προθεσμία υποβολής των περιλήψεων λήγει στο τέλος Απριλίου, αλλά μπορεί να παραταθεί για δυο εβδομάδες περίπου.
